Welcome
to our LLI website. We have been working with LLI teachers across the country
in our pilot for several years and we are very excited about the difference their
teaching is making for children.
Good teaching
begins with a good assessment of what children control, almost control, and do not
yet control. Each reader brings a different set of strengths and needs so our objective
is to learn as much as we can about the learners repertoire so we can build on a
strong foundation.
Effective
teachers observe the behaviors of children closely and can make moment by moment
decisions that help the child develop independence. Our goal is for each child to
develop flexible strategies for processing increasingly challenging texts and demonstrate
the ability to perform at grade level.
Please
contribute to this professional forum. Shared conversations about the children who
