The right book can make or break instruction. Each LLI system includes a collection of brand new, carefully leveled books for use in instruction. They were created exclusively for Leveled Literacy Intervention by a team of talented authors and illustrators under the direction of Fountas & Pinnell.

One of the features of LLI is the large collection of series books across all three systems.

• Children become interested in the topics, characters, or plots so that they are motivated to read more.
• As children move through a series, they experience the satisfaction of bringing a great deal of background knowledge to reading.
• Readers get to know characters so that they are better able to talk about their characteristics and infer their feelings and motivations.
• Children have the experience of reading connected text over time.
• Readers learn the process of making many connections between texts—typical situations, problems, settings, character traits, style of writing and illustrations.
